reed.co.uk’s been in the news this week after we revealed that Capricorns named Steve who live in the South East are Britain’s most ambitious people.
The finding was one of several insights uncovered by research of more than 850,000 jobseekers who’ve registered with us over the last year.
Statistical Steve, as he was dubbed by Management Today, expects an average salary of nearly £26,500, ahead of Graham (£24,324) and Ian (£24,168).
The most ambitious female is Jane, although she expects just £20,346. In fact, we found that, on average, women jobseekers expect to earn £3,600 a year less than men.
And whilst Capricorns topped the salary expectation poll over the past 12 months, it’s summer-born Virgos who have the lowest salary expectations – although, as Carol Lewis of The Times points out on her blog, there’s some pretty clear evidence to contradict this: 70 out of 613 billionaires on Forbes 2006 rich list were Virgos.

Yeah, but Capricorns are boring people!
