reed.co.uk launches £10,000 film competition

Leading UK job board, reed.co.uk, has launched a film competition with a top prize of £10,000 in cash.

The online contest invites anyone to upload their own short film under the heading ‘workplace’. Judges will choose the winner of the £10,000 prize for the best film in January 2010.

James Reed, Executive Chairman of reed.co.uk, explains:

“Going to work offers a rich diversity of human experiences: from friendship to fulfilment, compassion to humour.

“This is an open invitation to put together a short film so we can capture as many and as varied a selection of workplace experiences as possible and share them with everyone online. “

The competition, which is being run on reed.co.uk and YouTube, is open to anyone, regardless of their film making credentials. Entries may be no more than three minutes long and content must represent a ‘workplace’ theme.

James Reed continues:

“Film making experience is not a must, but a desire to share what the workplace means to you in a short film is.

“Whether you’re an accomplished film maker or you’re simply shooting with your mobile phone, we want to capture the moment, be it funny, artistic, dramatic or thought provoking.”

reed.co.uk’s Workplace Film Competition runs from September, 2009 until January, 2010. An expert judging panel will be revealed later this year and will be made up of leading lights from the worlds of film making, advertising and media.

James Reed comments:

“The prize on offer and the quality of the judging panel shows reed.co.uk’s commitment to promoting new talent in film making.  We hope to make this competition an annual event.”
